Life's a Beach

26/7/2014

What a summer!  With seemingly no end to this heatwave, I've been out and about at every opportunity. All manner of creatures have been literally crawling out of the woodwork, such as these Sand Lizards at Ainsdale Sand Dunes.  Mind you, with temperatures hitting 30 degrees, its enough to resurrect the dinosaurs.

Sand Lizard, 20/07/14, Ainsdale Dunes, Merseyside. Look for exposed logs in sun-traps then move in slowly.
Picture
Dark Green Fritillary, 20/07/14, Ainsdale Dunes, Merseyside. A speciality along the Sefton Coastline.
Picture
Peacock Butterfly, 20/07/14, Ainsdale Dunes. These guys are everywhere at the moment.
Picture
Common Red Soldier Beetle, 20/07/14, Ainsdale Dunes. Ubiquitous for the last 2 weeks, promiscuous too.
Picture
Six-spotted Burnet Moths (mating) 20/07/14, Ainsdale Dunes, Merseyside. Also mating.
Picture
Labyrinth Spider, 20/07/14, Ainsdale Dunes. Their extensive webs litter the ground. Mind your step!
Ainsdale Sand Dunes in the baking heat reminded me a lot of France, which is exactly where I'm heading tomorrow with my family.  Just hope it isn't too hot..
