Picture
In the 90s I made two trecking trips to East Africa: Mt Kilimanjaro in 1993, then Mt Kenya in 1995.  Both climbs were followed by safaris and this is where my interest in wildlife photography began.  Armed with just a basic Ricoh 35mm film camera, the pictures lack clarity and sharpness compared with more recent efforts.  Nevertheless, if I made the same trips today, I doubt I would have the same luck finding cheetahs and rhinos.  Moreover, I might just struggle with those particular mountain trecks.

Since then I've gone digital and I have photographed many more mammals, mostly European and some in the USA.  Interestingly enough, those safari shots from 20 years ago still make up more than half of my entire mammal collection.
