Operation Desert Storm

We shall scoop them on the beaches...we shall scoop them in the fields...we shall never surrender... Mark and I stormed off to St Annes Beach this afternoon in search of a reported Desert Wheatear.

Desert Wheatear, St Annes Beach, Lancashire. Good old "Fylde Bird Club" publicised this one with an exact location.

Mark sights his target with military precision.

Flitting to and fro along the tideline, the bird showed well and looked at home amongst the dunes.

Light was fading but victory was ours. We marched home triumphantly, just in time for tea and medals.

On our way back from a family trip to London, we stayed over at our friends' house in Leicester. Amanda and Pete are always great hosts and they know I can't stay in Leicester without visiting Bradgate Park, a brilliant place for wildlife. Fair enough, I always do this, but why not? Bradgate park is a wildlife paradise...

Fallow Deer, 03/11/16, Bradgate Park, Leicester. I've seen this on the telly, but never in real life. This scrap lasted a good few minutes.

Still at it, the two male fallow deer locked antlers just a few feet away from me.

As on the telly, the victor chases his nemesis away.

Hurtling straight towards me at one point, they bank to my right, affording me this shot.
